Stanley Opera is excited to announce their two brand new productions for 2022.

The first will be a fully staged production of Puccini’s Tosca to be performed at the Concordia Theatre. This will be the first time the company has been able to stage this popular opera charting the story of Tosca and her lover, Cavaradossi, doomed by the evil Scarpia. Full of great music including Tosca’s magical Vise d’arte, Cavaradossi’s E lucevan le stelle and the glorious Te Deum for the full company, this is one of the most popular operas of the repertoire.

The second, an altogether more light hearted affair, is Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore which will be an online production and a premiere for the company who will be hoping to build on the success of their 2020 lockdown production of Trial by Jury with this latest virtual venture. This will continue to be rehearsed via zoom which is how the company have rehearsed throughout the pandemic. This virtual production will enable Stanley Opera to let their hair down to tell the story of such iconic characters as Sir Joseph Porter, his daughter Josephine, her lover Ralph, Dick Deadeye and poor Little Buttercup.
