Stanley Opera

With a company of over 50 singers, Stanley Opera stages a full length opera every spring at the Concordia Theatre in Hinckley as well as concerts in a variety of venues across Leicestershire and the Midlands.

REHEARSALS AND FEES   The company rehearses every Friday evening at the theatre from 7.45 till 10pm. Additional principals' rehearsals take place at weekends, usually on Saturday or Sunday mornings. The company subscription fee has been under review. Full-time members now pay £45.00 a year. Members who are full-time students pay £25.00 a year.

NEW MEMBERS   New singers are always very welcome as are new members eager to help backstage.  Auditions are not required to join the Stanley Opera chorus, although we will happily advise people if they are uncertain of their singing abilities or aptitude. To play principal roles in the company's operatic productions, auditions usually take place approximately six months before productions are staged. If you're interested in joining us, let us know via the CONTACT page on this website.

BEHIND THE SCENES   Stanley Opera has an established production team of experienced company members. Settings are currently designed by Rick Scrine and constructed in the Concordia Theatre's workshops by a team of volunteers led by Brian George. Costumes are most often designed and made in-house by a team of company members. Occasionally costumes are hired or sourced online.
